If this is your first experience with physical therapy, you may have a few questions.
When to Arrive
Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before your first appointment to ensure all your questions and paperwork are finished before your appointment time.
What to Bring
For the purpose of insurance billing, please bring the following with you to your first appointment:
- Your driver’s license
- Completed patient paperwork
- Referrals or prescriptions from your physician
- Your insurance card or insurance paperwork
What to Expect at Your Initial Evaluation
Your visit will last one hour and involves a one-on-one conversation with your physical therapist listening to your concerns and goals. After examining your joint mobility, muscle performance and functional level, a customized treatment program will be designed with your goals in mind. Your therapist will answer all questions and educate you on what they determine the problem to be, as well as the do’s and don’ts related to your condition. If time allows, a short trial treatment will be performed, which may include some initial home exercises.
